Will the Dillard's New Year's Day Sale Take Place in 2022?

Every year shoppers look forward to Dillard's New Year's Day sale, which has been dubbed the department store chain's biggest sale. The annual sale offers an additional discount on items whose prices have already been reduced.

However, several users on social media have questioned whether the sale event is taking place in 2022.

Is Dillard's New Year's Day Sale Happening in 2022?

According to a note from the official Twitter account of Dillard's, the company's New Year's Day sale is not taking place in January.

Dillard's confirmed the news in a reply to a tweet by KUTV 2News anchor/reporter Jamie McGriff asking about the sale.

In a tweet posted Thursday, McGriff wrote: "Ummm, y'all....Anybody know if @Dillards canceled it's annual New Year's event??? Folks seem really quiet #AskingForAFriend."

In a reply to McGriff's post, the department store chain tweeted: "Dillard's has thousands of newly reduced prices and incredible deals to shop that we hope you will enjoy, but we will not be having an additional discount on permanently reduced merchandise."

The company reportedly also announced the update about the annual sale via signs put up at Dillard's stores.

KARK 4 News anchor Mallory Brooks and other users on social media shared a screenshot of the sign addressed to Dillard's customers that said: "We will not be having our annual % New Years Day sale January 1st," adding "Thousands of dollars in new markdowns can be found throughout the store."

Brooks tweeted: "In case you planned to wake up early to head to@Dillards on New Years Day - the annual sale won't happen this year! If you're still looking for a sale, Dillard's has a clearance center in Pine Bluff that has great deals!"

Facebook user Jennifer Johnson wrote: "I just called Dillard's Tyler [Texas] and the rumor is true!!! No sale New Years! Let's look at it like this, We will be that much richer for the New Year!! And you can sleep in. And you can start the year off with no fights!"

Facebook user Angelica Araujo Zuniga also wrote: "They [Dillard's] are not [having the New Year's Day sale]!! I actually asked someone at dillards."

Facebook user Audrey Tate also shared a post that said: "No New Year's Day sale 2022! I just called my local Dillard's and asked."

It's unknown why the New Year's Day sale for 2022 was canceled and whether the annual event will resume the following year.

Newsweek has contacted Dillard's for comment.

What Is Dillard's Latest Sale Event?

The department store chain is currently holding an "After Christmas" sale for a limited time only, featuring "thousands of price reductions," according to the company's website.

The sale offers a discount of 65 percent or more across various items, including women's clothing, menswear, shoes, accessories, home, beauty and more.

Customers can save up to 40 percent on select coats and boots and bag up to 50 percent off select Christmas decor, according to the website.
