Disney Live Action 'Mulan' 2020 First Look: Cast Features Jet Li, Jason Scott Lee and More [UPDATE]

Warriors, sharpen your jians. A first look at Liu Yifei in Disney's live-action Mulan has been released. Mulan, a live-action reboot of the popular 1998 animated film by Disney, is scheduled to release in U.S. theaters March 27, 2020. The film is being shot in New Zealand and China, with production kicking off this week.

Alongside Liu Yifei, a parade of talented actors make up the Mulan cast:

Meanwhile, fans have been in an uproar over the possibility that characters from the animated film, such as Captain Li Shang and Mushu, may not make an appearance in the live-action version.

The film is directed by Niki Caro. It is based on a screenplay by Rick Jaffa, Amanda Silver, Elizabeth Martin and Lauren Hynek. The screenplay was derived from a classic narrative poem The Ballad of Mulan.

The adaptation will be produced by Chris Bender, Jason T. Reed and Jake Weiner. The film's executive producers are Tim Coddington, Bill Kong and Barrie M. Osborn.
