Dog Acts as 'Barking Sensor' to Help Owner Back-Up Car in Adorable Video

A dog acts as a parking sensor to help their owner back up their car, in an adorable video going viral on social media.

The video sees the Golden Retriever sitting on their hind legs and motioning their paw, as if encouraging their owner to continue backing up. Once the car nears the sidewalk, the clever dog sits down and begins barking, bringing the driver to a halt.

The Twitter account @HumorAndAnimals shared the video and said: "the best barking sensor you can get." The video has been viewed 1.6 million times and has amassed 155,000 likes.

Viewers were delighted by the dog, with many saying they could do with a "barking sensor," like one Twitter user who said: "I'm bad at parking so I'm gonna need this so bad," and another who said: "How do I train a dog to do this for me?"

Others imagined the other jobs the smart dog would be able to do, like one viewer who said: "Give that dog those airport batons and it'll be a superstar."

As impressive as the video is, it turns out that this parking skill is not unique to this particular dog.

In November 2020, the Twitter account @naturevirals shared a video of a Labrador helping their owner back up in the driveway and said: "The best parking sensor you can get!" The video was viewed more than 300,000 times.

We know that dogs do a wide range of official jobs, such as service dogs, therapy dogs, police dogs, and herding dogs—but there are plenty of unofficial jobs to be had too.

While the aforementioned dogs work as "barking sensors," a pooch in New Orleans has found a job assisting their street performer owner in collecting tips. As a man sings to a crowd, his little dog greets his audience and collects their cash tips, as seen in a viral TikTok video.

Furthermore, one dog will soon be hired as the chief tasting officer and face of Busch beer, and will help promote the company's new "dog brew." The lucky dog's even luckier owner will win $20,000.

Over in Kentucky, a French bulldog named Wilbur Beast took on a very important title last year when he became elected mayor of a town named Rabbit Hash. Wilbur's duties include attending fundraising events and sitting on the front porch of the general store being petted.

Everyone has a favorite dog-influencer, but did you know it can actually be quite a lucrative career for a canine? A puppy in California makes thousands of dollars for its owner a year, simply by being cute on Instagram.
