Dog Mauls Baby To Death After Becoming 'Agitated' During Argument
A 16 month-year-old girl has been killed during a dog attack in Westmoreland Street, in Akron, Ohio.
Akron Police spokesperson Lieutenant Michael Miller, who has been contacted by Newsweek for an update, confirmed the baby girl died from her wounds on October 3.
He added the infant was attacked by at least one dog.
The incident is thought to have occurred at approximately 10.30 a.m. at a house in the Firestone Park neighborhood.
Reports suggest responding officers discovered a 16-month-old girl severely injured at the home.
Lieutenant Miller added the victim was rushed to Akron Children's Hospital, where she died.
Investigators in the case suspect there was a fight between two adults at the scene.
It is believed neither the man nor woman involved in the reported altercation are the girl's biological parents.

At least one of the dogs in the home—described as pit bulls by Akron police—"became agitated" during the disagreement, before savaging the child.
Miller added the Summit County Medical Examiner will conduct an autopsy on the victim, whose name has yet to be released to the public.
City animal control is thought to have now removed the dogs from the scene, as the investigation into the girl's death continues.
Statistics compiled by DogsBite.org suggest 46 U.S. dog bite-related fatalities occurred in 2020—two deaths fewer than the previous year.
A statement on the site reads: "Despite being regulated in Military Housing areas and over 900 U.S. cities, pit bulls contributed to 72 percent (33) of these deaths. Pit bulls make up about 6.2 percent of the total U.S. dog population."
At least 10 different dog breeds are believed to have contributed to human fatalities in 2020.
These are thought to include: American bully-mix (Shorty bull), Belgian malinois, bull terrier, cane corso and Labrador retriever.
Elsewhere a child was forced to kick a pit bull to save a family dog.
Eight-year-old Bichon Frise-Shih Tzu mix Peaches was reportedly savaged by the attacker near its home in Worcester, Massachusetts.
Just days earlier, a court heard details of a brutal dog attack in which a woman was "savagely" mauled and her pet Shih Tzu fatally injured.
