Puppy's Excitement Over Its New 'Fabulous' Fur Jacket Goes Viral

A dog's hilariously excited reaction to wearing a white fur jacket has gone viral, after his owner shared the clip just yesterday.

One-year-old Rhodesian Ridgeback Blarf was captured leaping through his kitchen in his fabulous attire, excitedly chasing his owner up and down and seemingly showing off his jacket while doing so.

"I put a jacket on my pup and I can't get over how excited he is," they captioned the video on Reddit. In just a day the post has gained over 34,000 votes.

Despite it perfectly suiting him, the jacket wasn't actually intended for the dog. Instead, it was his owner's Halloween costume, ordered for $10 on Amazon. "It looks better on Blarf," they wrote.

According to his owner's comments, Blarf often finds himself wanting to wear hoodies and jackets as he gets cold in the winter. "He is a Ridgeback, they get super cold in the winter and this guy has been wearing hoodies his whole life and he actually brings them to put them on when he's too cold," they wrote.

Rhodesian Ridgebacks are thought to have been bred in South Africa, meaning they are far more acclimated to hotter weather. Tribes would hunt with dogs that had a ridge of hair running along their back, and when settlers arrived in the 1500s and 1600s, the dogs were bred with various breeds including Great Danes and mastiffs.

According to VCA Hospitals, Ridgeback's short coats "provide little protection against cold weather."

He may have looked great in the jacket, and loved wearing it in the video, but his owner confirmed that he actually grew tired of it soon after. "This is a human jacket that doesn't fit great but he actually enjoyed it more outside, but it wasn't breathable so he got too hot and we took it off," they wrote. "I'll have to find something lighter."

Reddit users rushed to celebrate Blarf's fashion show, finding humor in his high levels of excitement.

"Well, now you have to buy the dog a tiara, too," joked one user.

"Somebody looks fabulous," commented another.

This viral video might show a fun side to being a dog owner, but a recent TikTok trend shows a far darker side.

As reported by Newsweek on Sunday, dog experts have been warning against a popular TikTok trend which sees owners dramatically talking in the faces of their dogs.

Experts fear it could lead to face bite injuries, as dogs have been showing clear signs of distress in the clips.
