A dog abandoned by their owner was found with a heart-wrenching note attached, pleading for a better future.
Jade, a 3-year-old shepherd, was originally adopted from an animal shelter in Olathe, Kansas, in December 2024. Just three days later, she was discovered by animal control, left alone with a note that read: "Looking for good home to avoid pound."
Since then, Jade has been taken in by Great Plains SPCA, a Kansas-based nonprofit dedicated to rescuing and rehoming animals in need. The shelter provides essential care, adoption services and community programs to help homeless pets find permanent, loving families. It shared her story on Facebook, where it garnered 821 likes and 293 shares.

"She has been in the shelter for three months. She was very stressed when she first arrived, so after a month she went to a foster home," a spokesperson for Great Plains SPCA told Newsweek.
According to the shelter, Jade thrived in her foster home.
"She did very well in her foster home. It was an apartment, and she did great with that. We are very happy that she has done so well in foster because that means she will do great in a home when she gets adopted too," they explained.
Jade is described as friendly, wiggly, energetic and sweet. She enjoys outdoor activities like running and relaxing indoors on the couch.
She adores people, including older children, and loves going on walks and playing with chew toys. The intelligent pup has already mastered several commands, including "sit," "down," and "shake." She also gets along well with other large dogs.
Despite her loving nature, Jade is still waiting for her forever home. She is currently at the shelter and available for adoption.
"If anyone is interested in adopting Jade, they can visit our website at greatplainsspca.org. They can email or call our adoptions team to set up a time to meet Jade. If people want to support Jade, and our other animals, but can't adopt, we always appreciate donations."

"Gorgeous sweetie," commented Kathy Papineau.
One user, Karen Dilks, inquired about Jade's compatibility with children, to which the shelter responded that she would do well with kids over the age of 8.
