Dog Accidentally Kicked by Dancer in Live TV Mishap

A dog was accidentally kicked in an odd TV mishap in the U.K. on Tuesday.

The dog was hit in the face by a dancer's leg at the end of BBC One's Morning Live show as a video that has begun to circulate on social media highlights.

While on the studio floor, the dog was kicked by dancer and host of British show Strictly Come Dancing: It Takes Two Janette Manrara as she performed with fellow dancer and partner Aljaž Škorjanec.

As Škorjanec spun her around, a curious dog, Dolly, moved closer and was struck in the head, according to a Metro report. Before the video cuts away, a person can be heard yelling Dolly's name in an attempt to prevent the collision.

Veterinarian James Greenwood, who owns Dolly the dog, had brought her into the studio along with fellow pet Oliver.

Before the show started, Manrara had videoed Dolly on the studio set, with one video captioned "Love at first cuddle."

TV critic and broadcaster Scott Bryan spoke to the BBC press office and relayed what he was told to his Twitter followers.

"I do love that I have received this official BBC comment. A spokesperson said: 'Dr James Greenwood has confirmed Dolly is fine.'"

Following the online concern from viewers, Greenwood also took to Twitter to reassure people that Dolly was unharmed.

"Thank you—yeah she is totally fine! Getting stuck into a chew stick on the way home." he tweeted.

Newsweek has contacted the BBC for comment.

Greenwood is a practicing small animal vet in Bristol in the west of England, and is originally from Yorkhire, according to his agency page.

He has been in practice for over 12 years—treating everything from parrots to donkeys, dogs, horses and even a baby elephant.

He is an ambassador for the veterinary charity "Streetvet," which provides care for pets belonging to the homeless and has a close working relationship with SPANA (helping working animals abroad), equine charity The Brooke and the Guide Dogs for the Blind Association.

Greenwood is also patron to The Association of Pet Behaviour Counsellors, an international network of clinical animal behaviourists promoting the very best in pet behavior.
