Florida Congresswoman Anna Paulina Luna has warned that Donald Trump would face impeachment if the Republicans lose the House in 2026.

She made the comments in an interview on Fox News' show The Ingraham Angle, with host Laura Ingraham on Wednesday.

Why It Matters

Trump was impeached twice during his first term—over claims he abused his power to pressure the Ukrainian government to investigate his domestic political opponents and the other following the January 6, 2021, Capitol Hill riot.

But the Senate failed to meet the two-thirds threshold for a guilty verdict so he remained in office.

Representative Al Green, a Texas Democrat, brought Articles of Impeachment against Trump last month over the alleged threat of "ethnic cleansing in Gaza."

What To Know

Luna, a Republican, was discussing the recent vandalism of Elon Musk's Tesla vehicles, as a symbol for protests against Musk and President Donald Trump, with the company's value declining in the past two weeks.

She was talking about what she called the "hypocrisy" among the left, in relation to its criticism of Musk, when she started urging people to vote in the 2026 mid-term elections.

Luna said: "Make sure you are supporting your local electeds because they're gonna get nasty, we're coming up on the mid-terms. I do believe that President Trump will hold the House but again, it's gonna be a metaphorical knife fight."

Ingraham replied: "This mid-term election is going to be critical because, Congresswoman, I believe what the Democrats are trying to do here, and you're seeing it with this warfare, what they're trying to do is set up the next impeachment of Donald Trump."

Luna agreed and said: "No, if we lose the House, mark my words, they will absolutely launch an impeachment of President Trump and try to stifle everything great that he's doing for this country."

What People Are Saying

Speaking to Newsweek about potential impeachment proceedings Harrison Fields, the White House deputy press secretary, previously said: "The Democrats continue to waste their time on publicity stunts that go against the wishes of the American people. President Trump was elected in a historic landslide to deliver his America First agenda and keep the promises he made on the campaign trail—Democrats can either get on board or keep losing elections."

What Happens Next

The Republicans currently have a majority in both the House and Senate. Getting to a position where two-thirds of Senators would seriously consider impeachment after the 2026 midterm elections would require dramatic Democratic Party gains.
