Donald Trump Slams 'Nervous Nancy' Pelosi In Tweetstorm Accusing Her of Treason

President Donald Trump lashed out at House Speaker Nancy Pelosi over the impeachment inquiry, labelling her "Nervous Nancy," in a series of late-night tweets which also lambasted House Intelligence Committee Chairman Adam Schiff. Trump suggested the pair were guilty of treason and should be impeached.

Trump has been vocal in his criticism of Schiff and Pelosi following the announcement of the impeachment inquiry, and Schiff's summary of a phone call between Trump and Ukrainian president Volodymyr Zelenskiy.

Pelosi's announcement came following whistleblower allegations that claimed Trump had asked Zelenskiy to investigate potential political rival Joe Biden. Aid to the country had been held up by Trump around the same time.

Late on Sunday night, the president lashed out at the pair once again, suggesting they were guilty of treason.

"Nancy Pelosi knew of all of the many Shifty Adam Schiff lies and massive frauds perpetrated upon Congress and the American people, in the form of a fraudulent speech knowingly delivered as a ruthless con, and the illegal meetings with a highly partisan 'Whistleblower' & lawyer," the president tweeted.

"This makes Nervous Nancy every bit as guilty as Liddle' Adam Schiff for High Crimes and Misdemeanors, and even Treason. I guess that means that they, along with all of those that evilly 'Colluded' with them, must all be immediately Impeached!" he added, in a series of tweets that were re-shared more than 40,000 times each in the hours after he posted them.

Following the announcement of the impeachment inquiry, Trump has suggested various Democrats are at fault and has also insisted Democratic presidential hopeful Joe Biden and his son Hunter should be investigated.

In a summary of the phone call between the two leaders released by the White House, Trump says to Zelenskiy: "There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it... It sounds horrible to me."

Trump has insisted there was no quid pro-quo mentioned in the call and that he did not pressure Zelenskiy to look into the Bidens. However, Speaker Pelosi viewed the whistleblower complaint as sufficient grounds to launch an impeachment inquiry. The move has been described by Trump as a "witch hunt" and prompted his supporters to respond with increased campaign donations in the days following the announcement.
