Dragon Ball FighterZ coming to Nintendo Switch was one of the more welcome surprises of Bandai Namco's E3 2018 video presentation, and now we know more about the game's the release date and new features.
According to Ryokutya -- via Siliconera -- Dragon Ball FighterZ will release on Nintendo Switch Sept. 27 in Japan. New features for the Switch version include a simplified control type and bonuses.
The "Extreme Type" control scheme allows players to pull off specials much more easily. One example given was being able to Meteor Smack by pressing L+R+ Heavy Attack. Specials can also be performed with a combination of the L + R buttons.

This new control type allows use of a single Joy-Con, so Switch owners can have local fights with just one controller. The Ryokutya article also revealed that Super Saiyan Blue Goku and Vegeta will be available to play in the game early.
In Japan, players who buy Dragon Ball FighterZ for Nintendo Switch will also receive a download code for Dragon Ball Z: Super Butouden, originally released in 1993 for the Super Famicom.
"Dragon Ball FighterZ has rocked the fighting game genre and players around the world; now we're coming back with another knockout hit with Dragon Ball FighterZ for the Nintendo Switch," said Eric Hartness, Vice President of Marketing at Bandai Namco, in a press release. "The Nintendo Switch provides the premier portable console platform from which to deliver all the power, personality, and over-the-top action Dragon Ball FighterZ is known for and we can't wait to see players enjoying the game everywhere they go."
With the reveal of the Japanese release date for Dragon Ball FighterZ on Switch, expect the western street date to be announced soon. It's likely that the western release will also be on Sept. 27, but we'll update when we receive confirmation.
Dragon Ball FighterZ is currently available on PS4, Xbox One and PC.
