What Is Dragon Energy? Donald Trump Has It, Kanye West Says

In a series of tweets on Wednesday (April 25), Kanye West appeared to describe his support for Donald Trump, proclaiming that they are "both dragon energy."

"You don't have to agree with trump but the mob can't make me not love him," West tweeted. "We are both dragon energy. He is my brother. I love everyone."

West added in the same post that he does not agree "with everything anyone does," saying: "That's what makes us individuals. And we have the right to independent thought."

The controversy over his statements quickly reached his loved ones, with the massively successful musician and fashion designer saying that his wife Kim Kardashian had called him "and she wanted me to make this clear to everyone. I don't agree with everything Trump does." In style, he added: "I don't agree 100% with anyone but myself."

For those scratching their heads at the concept of "dragon energy," a scroll through West's Twitter timeline gives his brief description. Under the words "dragon energy" with an emoji dragon between them, West wrote: "Natural born leaders—Very instinctive—Great foresight."

Though West expressed his love for Trump and later posted a picture of his very own signed MAGA cap, he added that he similarly loves Trump's presidential campaign rival, Hillary Clinton. "For people In my life the idea of Trump is pretty much a 50 50 split but I don't tell a Hillary supporter not to support Hillary. I love Hillary too."

Trump later replied to the messages with a tweet of his own saying: "Thank you Kanye, very cool!"

Aside from West's short description, it's not certain where the idea of 'dragon energy' comes from. Business Insider suggested it could be from Taoism, though dragons are a mystical and magical beast in numerous traditions.

Another dragon fan, who West had praised in earlier tweets, is SpaceX and Tesla founder Elon Musk, who later tweeted that he was "building a cyborg dragon." Though Musk might just be riffing off Kanye, presumably that cyborg dragon would need some kind of 'energy' to run.
