E3 2021: How to Watch Square Enix Presents and What to Expect

Today is anticipated to be the busiest stretch of 2021's Electronic Entertainment Expo (aka E3), with Bethesda, Xbox, Warner Bros., and Square Enix all hosting their own presentations.

The "Square Enix Presents" livestream will be following almost immediately after the Xbox and Bethesda showcase, starting at 3:15 p.m. ET. It is scheduled for roughly 40 minutes, during which we are promised updates on Life is Strange: True Colors, Babylon's Fall, and a new content update for Marvel's Avengers.

Like with yesterday's Ubisoft Forward and Guerrilla Collective, Newsweek will be recapping the presentation after it has finished. However, if you would prefer to watch it live, then we have also prepared a quick guide on how to do so.

How to Watch Square Enix Presents

Every presentation at this year's E3 is being hosted virtually so that anybody can watch from the comfort of their own home.

The event's organizers, the Entertainment Software Association (ESA), have set up a dedicated portal for fans who want to experience the whole conference in one place. Accessible via your internet browser or through a special mobile app, you will be able to use this service to watch each presentation consecutively. In addition to this, it also allows you to attend online booths, chat on forums, and even personalize a calendar so that you will be alerted to the shows that matter most to you.

As well as the portal, every major publisher at E3 has been live-streaming their individual presentations. Square Enix will be no different in this respect, with the publisher set to host their conference on both their YouTube and Twitch channels.

What to Expect From Square Enix Presents

Square Enix has already confirmed that Babylon's Fall will be getting a slot during their conference today. Developed in partnership with PlatinumGames (the team behind the quirky Bayonetta and the even quirkier Nier: Automata), little is known about the action RPG at the moment, and it has not been seen publicly since 2019. As such, this could be the first time we get a proper look at its story, its world, and its gameplay.

Elsewhere, Square Enix has announced that it will be showing off the latest installment in its indie-darling franchise, Life is Strange. Entitled True Colors, this will be the 5th entry in the episodic sci-fi series and, just like the previous games, it revolves around a young character with mysterious superpowers.

In this case, you will be playing as Alex Chen, an empath who can miraculously experience the feelings of others and is using these gifts to solve her brother's murder. In addition to a deep dive on the new game, Square Enix has also revealed that it will be dropping fresh information about a Life is Strange: Remastered Collection.

Another definite slot at this year's presentation is one for Marvel's Avengers. Here, we can expect more details about the imminent Black Panther: War for Wakanda expansion, as well as general updates about how the live-service title is going to be supported in the coming months.

Finally, the show's headliner will be Eidos-Montréal, the developers behind the recent Tomb Raider reboot and Deus Ex: Human Revolution. According to Square Enix's promotional materials, the team will be there to host a world premiere of their latest offering.

While there is no official word on what this might be, rumors suggest that Eidos has been working on a Guardians of the Galaxy spin-off. If this is true, it will be interesting to see how it ties into the aforementioned Avengers game, or if it will be an entirely separate universe.

Check in with Newsweek for more updates on Square Enix Presents, as well as the rest of the E3 conference, over the next few days.
