Elden Ring Full Patch 1.06 Notes Revealed

Elden Ring Patch 1.06 is finally here. Developer FromSoftware issued the latest update for its massive open-world action game on Tuesday, August 9. In addition to a number of bug fixes and sweeping balance changes, the Elden Ring patch brings massive nerfs to the Corpse Piler skill on the Rivers of Blood sword and the Ash of War ability Bloodhound Step.

In addition, the Patch 1.06 update brings buffs for destructive weapons like the Greatsword as well as an expanded ability to send summon signs to "distant areas." This means there are more opportunities to invade games or offer assistance to other players from a longer distance. There's much more Elden Ring maintenance to be found within Patch 1.06 as well, including an expanded NPC questline.

It has been a while since an Elden Ring patch hit, but the game has remained extremely popular since its February 22, 2022, release. The punishing yet satisfying action title, a collaboration between Dark Souls developer FromSoftware and Game of Thrones scribe George R.R. Martin, has entranced players with its macabre characters and story as well as its challenging encounters.

Elden Ring Patch 1.06: Bloodhound Step, Corpse Piler, Glintstone Pebble Nerf

For Elden Ring update 1.06, the biggest change comes in the form of decreased travel distance and invincibility frames when using Bloodhound Step. This Ash of War skill, which can be used on all melee armaments, allows users to become temporarily invisible while dodging.

Now, it has become less effective and is no longer the analogue to a teleportation-like move. However, the skill Quickstep has been boosted as something of a compromise. Like Bloodhound Step though, its performance is reduced when used in quick succession. The Glintstone Pebble will also now deal decreased damage for anyone utilizing it as an Ash of War option. If used as a typical spell, it remains untouched.

Additionally, the Corpse Piler weapon skill for the Rivers of Blood katana has been altered. It now deals less damage. The katana is no less deadly, but Corpse Piler is no longer the terrifying ability it once was. The bleed build-up has also been reduced, which may push players to look for a decent alternative. It's going to be a difficult trade-off for some.
