Carrie Underwood has given fans a hopeful update after revealing that one of her chickens is dealing with a life-threatening health issue.

"My hen seems to be feeling better," the 42-year-old country singer, who reportedly owns more than 15 chickens, shared via her Instagram Story on Thursday, March 13, along with a photo of the affected fowl. "She's back in the coop with her friends."

Underwood, who revealed earlier in the week that the hen is "egg bound," added that she'll be closely monitoring the bird. "I'll continue to keep an eye on her and give her all the treats!" she concluded. (Per VCA Animal Hospitals, "egg binding occurs when a female bird is unable to naturally expel an egg from her body" — which can become a "critical" illness if a "prolonged period" has elapsed since the bird has attempted to lay the egg. The condition can be fatal.)

The "Before He Cheats" singer, who lives in Tennessee with husband Mike Fisher and their two young sons, first alerted her 13.2 million Instagram followers that there was something wrong with the chicken on Sunday, March 9 — the same day that her new judging gig on American Idol aired.

"Watched the American Idol premier[e] ...brought back down to earth with an egg bound chicken," Underwood wrote via her Instagram Story at the time, per Country Living. "Hope she feels better in the morning."

After her initial post, the "Jesus Take the Wheel" artist shared a follow-up photo of the hen, writing: "She's still ... kickin' this morning but hasn't passed the egg yet. She's getting baths and massages now. Don't know if they're helping."

It is unclear if the hen has since laid the egg.
