Cher isn't afraid to tell it like it is — and her new memoir doesn't hold back.

According to Cher (whose real name is Cherilyn Sarkisian), she first met the late music producer through her then-boyfriend, Antonino LoTempio. The introduction, however, was far from pleasant. "He might have been a demigod to many, but he acted weird, and I didn't like how he stared at me," she wrote.
Spector's behavior allegedly escalated when he propositioned her for sex in French, asking, "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" But the "Goddess of Pop" had a quick-witted response: "Oui, pour l'argent," flipping the script by demanding payment.
"You could have knocked him over with a feather," she revealed. "He didn't think I'd understand the question, let alone have an answer."
The tension between the two resurfaced years later when Spector illegally released a single featuring Cher's vocals in Europe, violating her contract. When she confronted him, things turned dangerous.
"Staring at him in fury as he twirled [a revolver] around his fingers, I said, 'Don't f*** with me, Phillip!'" the "If I Could Turn Back Time" singer penned. "'You can't pull that s*** on me, you a**hole.'" She demanded he promise not to exploit her music again. Though he apologized, Cher fled the scene, unsure if the gun was even loaded.
Fast forward to 2003, the producer fatally shot actress Lana Clarkson in the mouth at his California mansion. He initially claimed it was an "accidental suicide," but a jury didn't buy it.
After a mistrial in 2007, Spector was retried and convicted in 2009 of second-degree murder and using a firearm in the commission of a crime. Sentenced to 19 years to life, he spent the rest of his days behind bars, passing away at age 84 in 2021.
Cher: The Memoir, Part Two is slated for launch on November 18, 2025.
