Martha Stewart is clearly not a fan of Drew Barrymore's touchy-feely interview style.

The 83-year-old businesswoman looked uncomfortable — and pushed Barrymore away — during the Tuesday, November 12 episode of The Drew Barrymore Show, where she was promoting her upcoming 100th cookbook.

Since they were discussing her cookbook, Martha: The Cookbook: 100 Favorite Recipes, with Lessons and Stories from My Kitchen, Barrymore, 49, asked Stewart what makes her feel "soft and gooey inside." The Martha Stewart Living publisher looked ill at ease by the question, as well as by Barrymore's proximity to her. She simply responded, "treatment," leading the host to add, "Soft and gooey treatment?"

"When you're treated like a lady?" Barrymore inquired, while stroking Stewart's back. She began, "Someone comes in and..." before the lifestyle mogul shut her down. "You're the wrong gender," Stewart said, pushing the Santa Clarita Diet alum away. Barrymore then fell dramatically backwards onto the couch, responding, "I know!"

Barrymore's fall seemed to break the tension, with the audience — and Stewart — laughing in response. The Ever After star then joked with her guest, suggesting it may be difficult to find a man who will provide "soft and gooey" treatment these days. "I know," Barrymore said, adding, "Although the way it's going with men though, Martha, I'm not so sure anymore."

In a video of the moment shared to TikTok, fans seemed to agree with Stewart's response, noting that Barrymore's controversial interview style can be too much. Another brought up the lifestyle guru's recent documentary, asking, "Did she not watch the documentary when Martha said she gave no f***s about affection or emotions 😂."

This isn't the first time Barrymore has come under fire for how touchy she is with her guests. She herself acknowledged it after her December 2023 interview with Oprah went viral. While some fans enjoyed the "warmth" and connection between the stars, others felt the lack of personal space was uncomfortable, and that Barrymore had "crossed a line."

"It's so funny because consistently over the last five years, it's that I'm too touchy and too close to people, which is so embarrassing. I don't know if I can break the habit," Barrymore admitted, but added, "I hear you and I'll do my best."

Stewart, on the other hand, can be seen talking about her disinterest in being overly affectionate in her Netflix documentary, Martha, which debuted on October 30. She reflected in the documentary on how it could relate back to her childhood, noting, "There was not a lot of affection in our house."
