Pop star Chappel Roan clashed with paparazzi who she said were "disrespecting" her boundaries and "harassing" her, after an appearance at Paris Fashion Week.
Roan was in the audience for Sean McGirr’s AW26 presentation at Alexander McQueen, but was encountered by paparazzi when she left the event to go to dinner.
She then turned the tables on the paparazzi who had been following her, to document what it’s like to be "disregarded as a human."

Why It Matters
It’s not the first time that the Hot To Go! hitmaker has clashed with paparazzi. She famously called out photographers at the 2024 Video Music Awards, an incident which prompted a widespread conversation about how paparazzi engage with celebrities.

...
And one that received support from fellow popstars. At the 2026 Grammy Awards, Sabrina Carpenter remarked to photographers, "You guys are so quiet this year. Chappell really started a movement," before adding that Roan had "Really whipped them into shape."
Roan is far from the only celebrity to clash with and call out paparazzi. In February, pop-star Dua Lipa and her fiancé, the actor Callum Turner, had a tense encounter with photographers in Paris. Turner begged photographers to "leave us alone," and alleged that they had been "telling everyone where we live." The incident sparked widespread backlash online.
What To Know
In a video circulating widely on social media, Roan is seen standing next to a car and being met with a throng of paparazzi. She then holds up her phone and starts speaking to the camera while filming a video.
"When you’re disregarded as a human, this is what it’s like. I’m just trying to go to dinner, and I’ve asked these people several times to get away from me," she said, before turning to film the paparazzi, who hid their faces.
"They’re hiding their face, because they’re ashamed," Roan said.
A clip of the incident, shared by Pop Base on X, has been viewed over 14 million times. At the beginning of the video, there is a lot of noise and chaos, but when Roan starts speaking and filming, the paparazzi become quiet.
The incident has received a mixed response online. Some have applauded Roan and said her action was necessary, while others argued that media attention was part of being a celebrity.
