In an exclusive report from TheWrap, it has been confirmed that Superman will be facing off against Brainiac, one of the most iconic villains in all of DC Comics, in "Man of Tomorrow," the sequel to the 2025 hit film "Superman."

These details had previously been teased by Gunn at a press conference for the finale of "Peacemaker" Season 2, when he teased that the villain who would unite Superman and Luthor would have to be "a pretty pronounced one."
“Lex Luthor is mostly concerned about Lex Luthor,” Gunn said, per Casey Loving of TheWrap. “So we’ll see what threatens Lex Luthor.”
"Man of Tomorrow" production is slated to begin in April and is set to be released theatrically on July 9, 2027.

'Superman' marked the beginning of a new era in the DC Extended Universe. Not only was it the first movie truly showcasing Gunn's vision for DC, it also introduced a pantheon of new heroes, including Mr. Terrific (Edi Gathegi), Hawkgirl (Isabela Merced), and the Green Lantern Guy Gardner (Nathan Fillion).
The film also starred Rachel Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Skyler Gisondo as Jimmy Olsen.
The film was a success, grossing over $616 million worldwide and becoming a hit with audiences and critics.
