Anticipation for Rockstar Games’ launch of Grand Theft Auto VI, or GTA 6, is rising as we near the late 2026 release date of the latest addition to the blockbuster franchise.
Fans will be able to get a new look at the new game in a Netflix special, Grand Theft Auto 6: An Extended Look, which Rockstar confirmed is heading towards Netflix later in August. The special will be released Thursday, August 27 at 3pm EST.
The news follows confirmation that GTA 6 is set to launch on November 19 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and S, with preorders beginning June 25 at midnight local time.

The Netflix special marks a significant update in the game’s rollout, after two previous delays in fall 2025 and spring 2026.
A PC version of GTA 6 is anticipated, though there is no confirmation from Rockstar and a launch date has not been finalized. While fans were expecting a smaller cinematic trailer, this extended look promo will likely offer more insight into gameplay and the wider world of the fictional Florida that GTA 6 inhabits.
Here is a rundown of what we know about Grand Theft Auto 6, featuring playable characters Jason and Lucia.

'GTA 6:' What Is The Extended Look Netflix Promo?
This isn't simply another GTA 6 trailer, or the long-awaited Trailer 3 by another name. This event is billed as a special showcase event and promises a much closer look at Grand Theft Auto 6.
The stream lands on Netflix on Thursday, August 27. If you don't have a Netflix account, you won't miss out: The stream will be uploaded and presented on YouTube the following day, after the Netflix premiere.
'GTA 6:' New Game Features
The sixth installment of the series is set in fictional Leonida, which parallels the state of Florida. Vice City, featured in previous games and heavily inspired by Miami, will also be a city within the state.
The game follows pair Jason Duval and Lucia Caminos, who is the first female protagonist in a mainline Grand Theft Auto title.
On June 24, Rockstar Games and Sony Interactive Entertainment announced the game will play best on PS5,
The website for GTA 6 gives us a small glimpse at the story to come:
Jason and Lucia have always known the deck is stacked against them. But when an easy score goes wrong, they find themselves on the darkest side of the sunniest place in America, in the middle of a criminal conspiracy stretching across the state of Leonida—forced to rely on each other more than ever if they want to make it out alive.
How to Preorder 'GTA 6'
Rockstar has confirmed that preorders for GTA 6 will begin on June 25, 2026, through digital storefronts such as the PlayStation Store and Xbox Store, as well as select retailers.
At the time of writing, Rockstar has not detailed specific editions, bonuses, or pricing tiers tied to those preorders.
'GTA 6' Cost: What We Know
Rockstar and parent company Take-Two Interactive officially announced this week that the game will cost $79.99, according to a press release.
However, The Grand Theft Auto VI: Ultimate Edition, a deluxe version of the game that includes an exclusive collection of premium vehicles, weapons, apparel, and plotlines, will be available for $99.99.
All GTA 6 pre-orders and purchases before November 20 will include a special in-game items pack, called the Vintage Vice City Pack, and a free month of GTA+ for digital pre-orders. Players who pre-order digital versions of the new game will be able to begin pre-loading on November 12.
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick previously said in April that pricing will aim to reflect value to players, per IGN.
"Consumers pay for the value that you bring to them, and our job is to charge way less of the value delivery," Zelnick said.
"How you feel about something you buy is the intersection of the thing itself and what you pay for. Consumers need to feel like the thing itself is amazing and the price they were charged was fair for what they got."
Cost to Make the Game
GTA 6 could be one of the most expensive video games ever made.
Though Rockstar has not released an official figure, news outlets like BBC have reported that analysts suggest development costs are over $1 billion.
Considering marketing and postlaunch support, costs could spike up to $1.5 billion. However, the total cost has not been announced.
