Slow Horses Season 5 Story

Slow Horses season 5 is an adaptation of Mick Herron's 2018 novel London Rules. It follows the precedent established by previous seasons, which each adapt a different novel in the series. Slow Horses season 4, for instance, is based on Spook Street.

In London Rules, a series of terrorist attacks on Britain shake Jackson Lamb (Gary Oldman) and his band of misfit spies into action - specifically, to protect controversial MP Dennis Gimball. Set after the EU referendum, it features scathing commentary on brexit. For instance, Gimball's wife writes a regular Eurosceptic tabloid column. While the Slough House rejects are tasked with saving Gimball, it's a toss-up whether they even want to.

There's also the matter of a secret romance between River and Louisa, who share a kiss in the season 5 trailer. "All is not what it seems with that scene," Louisa actor Rosalind Eleazar tells The Wrap. "It may look a certain way, but I think the audiences are going to be quite surprised with a decision that Louisa makes."

Slow Horses Season 5 Release Date

Slow Horses season 5 will likely release early September 2025, putting it almost a year after the premiere of Slow Horses season 4. Shooting finished in October 2024, giving showrunners plenty of time to polish off the post-production.

Slow Horses Season 5 Cast

Slow Horses Season 6

Season 6 of Slow Horses has already been announced. According to statements made by showrunner Will Smith in the past, typically three Slow Horses series are in production at any one time: one being written, one being shot, and one being edited.

In fact, Apple has already given us the plot. Apparently, the Slow Horses are going on the run as a vicious Diana Taverner seeks revenge. It's a story adapted from Joe Country and Slough House, the sixth and seventh novels in Herron's book series. There's no release date yet.
