Man Murdered When Meeting Seller to Buy Quad Bike From Facebook Marketplace

A juvenile has been arrested after a 26-year-old Mississippi man was killed when meeting a seller from Facebook Marketplace to purchase an ATV quad bike.

On Wednesday June 2, Kyle Craig, drove from Ocean Springs to Holmes County in Mississippi to meet a seller from Facebook Marketplace so that he could buy the quad bike from them.

After Craig's family did not hear back from him, they contacted the police and reported him missing, according to Holmes County Sheriff Willie March, who spoke to WAPT.

Investigators said Craig had transported a large sum of money to the meeting and that they believed he had been robbed and fatally shot after his body was found nearby with multiple gunshot wounds.

The sheriff's department has so far made one arrest in the incident, a juvenile boy, but is still looking for a second suspect, Montavious Landfair, who is allegedly on the run. March told WAPT that several other individuals could be charged as accessories to the murder.

March asked for anyone who has any information about the whereabouts of Landfair, or any other information in relation to Craig's murder to contact the Holmes County Sheriff's Department.

A GoFundMe page has been set up on Monday by a family member of Craig's to help support his wife Shelbie and 1-year-old son Brantley.

"I'm asking for this community to come together and give back to the awesome and hard working man who was taken from this earth way too soon," the organizer Morgan Craig wrote.

"All donations will go directly to Shelbie and Brantley. I promise the condolences to our family aren't going unnoticed. We're trying to find peace in a world without Kyle. I know Justice will be served. Please continue to pray for our family, especially Brantley and Shelbie."

At the time of writing, the fundraiser has raised $3,979 of a $10,000 goal. The page has been active for just over a day.

In April, a woman was stabbed to death in Pennsylvania by a Facebook Marketplace seller who claimed that they were trying to sell a refrigerator.

Joshua Gorgone, 26, who listed the fridge on Facebook Marketplace, was arrested after the body of Denise Williams, 54, was found in his apartment with multiple stab wounds, according to Fox 8.

The Geistown Borough Police Department said that Williams was killed following a dispute with Gorgone about the price of the fridge.

Newsweek has contacted the Holmes County Sheriff's Department and Facebook for comment.
