Police in California said they are investigating a video in which a male officer throws a woman to the ground and knocks her unconscious while detaining her.
The clip involving a Fairfield Police officer is being widely shared on social media, although the incident is from October 2020, reported KRON.
The video shows police attempting to detain two women. One of the women's legs can then be seen being lifted off the ground as a male officer throws her onto the road.
The woman who is filming the arrest then repeatedly screams "oh my god" as the other woman appears to be unconscious on the ground.
The woman in the clip has been identified as Diana Santos. Her husband, Edward Chaves, said they called police to respond to a domestic incident between Santos' daughter and her boyfriend.
"We asked for help and what we got was my wife injured and my kids taken to jail," Chaves said.
"The help came and we thought things would be okay and the next thing you know my wife is on the floor, we thought dead."
Santos' attorney John Ambrosio said she was later charged with resisting arrest and obstruction in connection to incidents prior to her being thrown to the ground.
Ambrosio is hoping the unearthed video evidence will mean that the case against Santos will be thrown out.
"I've requested body camera video of the officers, however that video came to light which illustrates a lot more than I can or a police report can," Ambrosio said.
Santos has also filed a civil suit and a complaint against the Fairfield Police Department.
The Fairfield Police Department has been contacted for comment.

Elsewhere, a federal lawsuit has been filed against two police officers in Loveland, Colorado, after a 73-year-old woman with dementia was injured during an arrest.
Karen Garner suffered a dislocated shoulder, a broken arm and other injuries when she was arrested on suspicion of shoplifting $13.88 worth of items from a Walmart store in June 2020.
Bodycam footage of Loveland Officer Austin Hopp forcing the elderly woman to the ground while trying to detain her was released by Civil rights attorney Sarah Schielke, of The Life & Liberty Law Office.
The lawsuit alleged that after arriving on the scene, Officer Daria Jalali assisted Hopp in "violently and needlessly dislocating Ms. Garner's shoulder, fracturing her humerus, and spraining her wrist" while placing the dementia sufferer in handcuffs by the side of the road.
Eighth Judicial District Attorney Gordon McLaughlin confirmed the district's critical incident response team is investigating the incident and will decide if criminal charges against the officers can be brought forward.
