'Fallout 76' Flavors of Mayhem Quest Guide: How to Get a Black Diamond Ski Sword

Fallout 76 has plenty of crazy quests that yield unique weaponry. This guide covers "Flavors of Mayhem," a wild romp with Rose that ends with the acquisition of the Black Diamond Ski Sword. Follow this walkthrough, and you should be able to make it to the end.

If you've made it this far you've already been introduced to Rose and her location called Top of the World. To start "Flavors of Mayhem," go to the second floor and use the workbench marked on your map to modify Rose's Syringer with the items given to you. Do it as soon as possible, because the crafting supplies can perish.

Shoot a Yao Guai with a Karma Syringe

Once everything's prepared, the next step is to find a Yao Guai and shoot it with the Karma Barrel you just made. To do that, follow the map to the marked location shown here. If possible, you can also Fast Travel to Seneca Rocks Visitor Center and go north from there.

Once you find the beast, the fight is somewhat easy. After you shoot it with the syringe it will go aggro. When this happens, just circle around some nearby trees for cover. Eventually it will tire, and that's when you go in with the strongest gun you've got. Rinse and repeat till the enemy falls.

Craft Explosive Bait at Any Tinker's Workbench

The next step is to craft Explosive Bait. The map points you in the direction of the supplies and the bench you need to craft them. At the bench, navigate to the "Mines" category and select Explosive Bait. Use it on any enemy in the marked area by placing the meat and watching a carnivore grab it. A lot of times the quest will continue even if the bait doesn't actually explode.

Approach a Deathclaw and "Make Friends"

To make things even weirder, you must now "approach a Deathclaw and 'make friends.'" That essentially means approaching one (ideally when it's not looking) and pressing a button to interact with it. When done, you'll have the option to kill or flee. The choice doesn't matter here. If it sees you, your best defense is using trees and ridges to create distance between you and your assailant.

Steal from a Super Mutant Camp

Next you need to steal a Missile Launcher from a marked Super Mutant camp. Just follow the marker and get the item. The camp itself is pretty lightly defended, so you should be OK whether you're hiding behind rocks and sniping or adopting a melee approach. These Mutants are more or less the same ones you've been dealing with throughout your time with the game. Just remember to loot the Mutants and the camp itself once you get inside the marked structure.

Kill a Feral Ghoul

Missile Launcher in hand, head to the Savage Divide via fast travel from the Whitespring Resort or on foot. Kill a couple Feral Ghouls in the marked circle, or elsewhere for that matter, and the Black Diamond Ski Sword is yours. Go see Rose in the Top of the World to get it.
