Fans Predict What The Countdown Clock On 'Twilight' Author Stephenie Meyer's Website Means

Is Twilight still relevant? Apparently, yes. The author of the vampire romance series Stephenie Meyer posted a cryptic clock on her webpage that counts down to Monday, May 4 at midnight. Meyer is expected to announce a new project, and Twihards can't keep their cool.

Fans flocked to Twitter and tried to decode this mysterious message. Some think that the author is releasing the long-awaited book Midnight Sun. The long-awaited fifth book of the series is a retelling of Twilight in the perspective of Edward Cullen. In 2008, the first 12 chapters of the book were leaked which caused the author to shut down the project. "I feel too sad about what has happened to continue working on Midnight Sun, and so it is on hold indefinitely," she wrote in a blog post at the time.

Others speculate that she will announce the sequel to her sci-fi romance novel The Host, which was published in 2008. Some fans pondered whether the clock has to do anything with her 2016 thriller novel The Chemist. However, Meyer could also be announcing an entirely new project.

Here's what the internet thinks Meyer's countdown clock is for.
