Fantasy Football: Week 14 Injury Update, Top Waiver-wire Pickups

With Week 14 of the NFL season rapidly approaching, it’s time to assess the latest injury updates and scout waiver wires in a bid to find those all-important pickups.

Here is a roundup of the main injuries from  Week 13 and their impact on your fantasy football roster.

Wide Receiver

A.J. GreenCincinnati Bengals

Having missed four games with a toe injury, Green returned in Week 13 but suffered another setback and could be out until the end of the season.

Waivers pickup: Curtis Samuel—Carolina Panthers (7.7 fantasy points on average, owned by 39.9 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Cole Beasley—Dallas Cowboys

Beasley suffered a foot injury in the Cowboys’ win over the Saints on Thursday Night Football and did not return to the field. Dallas has listed him as week-to-week.

Waivers pickup: Dante Pettis—San Francisco 49ers (5.9 fantasy points on average, owned by 2.3 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Christian Kirk—Arizona Cardinals

The Cardinals have place the rookie on injured reserve after he broke his foot against the Packers on Sunday. The injury brought a solid first season in the NFL to a disappointing end for Kirk.

Waivers pickup: Adam Humphries—Tampa Bay Buccaneers (12.1 fantasy points on average, owned by 41.2 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Colt McCoy—Washington Redskins

McCoy will miss the rest of the campaign after breaking his right fibula on Monday night. The injury was jarringly similar to the one Alex Smith suffered in Week 11, when Washington’s quarterback broke his fibula and tibia.

Waivers pickup: Derek Carr—Oakland Raiders  (14.8 fantasy points on average, owned by 10.5 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Joe Flacco—Baltimore Ravens

Flacco has sat out the Ravens’ last four games with a hip injury, but according to NFL Network’s Ian Rapoport he could share quarterback duties with Lamar Jackson against the Chiefs on Sunday.

Waivers pickup: Josh Allen—Buffalo Bills  (9.8 fantasy points on average, owned by 3.7 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Mitchell TrubiskyChicago Bears

Trubisky injured his shoulder in Week 11 and has not played in the last two games. Bears coach Matt Nagy said this week the second-year quarterback is feeling “better and better,” but remains a doubt ahead of Sunday’s showdown against the Rams.

Waivers pickup: Baker Mayfield—Cleveland Browns  (14 fantasy points on average, owned by 47.1 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Running Back

James Conner—Pittsburgh Steelers

The second-year running back has been ruled out of the game against the Raiders in Oakland on Sunday with an ankle injury. Conner’s absence is a major blow for the Steelers as they look to rebound from back-to-back losses.

Waivers pickup: Jaylen Samuels—Pittsburgh Steelers  (2.3 fantasy points on average, owned by 3.4 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Malcolm Brown—Los Angeles Rams

On the heels of Cooper Kupp, the Rams have lost another key player for the remainder of the regular season, as Brown suffered a broken collarbone against the Lions. The 25-year-old has already had surgery to repair the injury and, unlike Kupp, he could return in the playoffs.

Waivers pickup: Theo Riddick—Detroit Lions  (7.7 fantasy points on average, owned by 39.9 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Matt Breida—San Francisco 49ers

An ankle injury in Week 13 was the latest blow in an injury-ravaged campaign for Breida and 49ers coach Kyle Shanahan has ruled him out of Sunday’s game against the Denver Broncos.

Waivers pickup: Jeff Wilson—San Francisco 49ers  (12.3 fantasy points on average, owned by 0.4 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

Tight End

Greg Olsen—Carolina Panthers

Olsen is out for the rest of the season after re-injuring his right foot. It is desperately unlucky for the tight end, who missed nine games in 2017.

Waivers pickup: Ian Thomas—Carolina Panthers  (2.4 fantasy points on average, owned by 0.3 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)

A.J. Derby—Miami Dolphins

The Dolphins placed Derby on injured reserve on Monday after the tight end broke his foot. The 27-year-old has only played four games this season.

Waivers pickup: C.J. Uzomah—Cincinnati Bengals  (6.5 fantasy points on average, owned by 31.2 percent of ESPN Fantasy Football teams)
