FIFA Corruption: Blatter and Platini Suspended For 90 Days

FIFA President Sepp Blatter and UEFA President Michel Platini have been suspended from all football-related activities for 90 days, according to a statementby FIFA's Ethics Committee.

Blatter is subject to a criminal investigation by Swiss authorities regarding a so-called "disloyal payment" to Platini, as well as an allegedly illegal deal with former FIFA Vice President Jack Warner. Platini

The statement said that the ban will also apply to FIFA's general secretary, Jérôme Valcke, who has already been temporarily put on leave by FIFA in relation to allegations that he participated in a deal to sell 2014 World Cup tickets above face value.

The bans come into effect immediately and could be extended for an additional 45 days, the statement said.

The statement said that another former FIFA vice-president, Chung Mong-joon, has been banned for six years and fined 100,000 Swiss Francs ($103,399), for violating FIFA's ethics code in relation to the bidding process for the 2018 and 2022 World Cups.
