As People noted, Minaj had also spoke of the couple's shared history in her verse on Chance the Rapper's song "Zanies and Fools."

He is a registered sex offender.

Petty is a level two registered sex offender in the state of New York. In 1995, he was found guilty of attempted rape, subsequently serving almost four years in prison, according to Us Weekly. The incident took place in September of the previous year, involving a 16-year-old girl. Petty was also 16 at the time.

As People noted, Minaj defended her marriage to Petty on Instagram, writing: "He was 15, she was 16 ... in a relationship. But go awf Internet. Y'all can't run my life. Y'all can't even run y'all own life. Thank you boo."

More children may be in the couple's future.
