'The Flash' Season 5 Suit Leaks, But It's Not the Latest Design

Update 8/11: The official poster for The Flash Season 5 features the new suit.

The Flash may be getting a new suit in Season 5. If you watched The Flash Season 5 San Diego Comic Con trailer you should remember that Nora (a.k.a XS), Barry Allen's daughter from 30 years in the future, gives him a present: The Flash ring. If you read Flash comic books, you know wearing the ring allows Barry Allen to activate a costume in an instant. In the trailer, Nora confirms the suit inside The Flash ring is one Barry has never worn; it's also an iconic look from the comic books.

"I have a backup. Total fan-favorite," she says.

Barry Allen finally has The Flash ring, which confirms the existence of a new suit. However, the latest leak (below) isn't the final design. CW

So what's the new suit look like? According to reports from two Flash fan-sites (that have not been confirmed by DC Entertainment or The CW), the new suit will be made of cloth and spandex instead of traditional leather. It also features a smaller Flash emblem and a higher neckline. In the photo from a supposed costume fitting, nothing is covering Gustin's chin, also a departure from previous costumes in the show. The boots are reportedly red with more gold showing on the top. Take a look at the leaks below.

Grant Gustin has confirmed the leak is real, however, it's not the latest version of the design. "Some things need work and they will be worked on. We'll get there," Gustin said on Instagram. "I love the suit that has been designed for me, and I think when everyone sees it in its entirety, you will love it too. Things have been adjusted since that leaked shot was taken, and more things will continue to be adjusted until it feels right."

The new reveal does link up with comments from Gustin at San Diego Comic Con. The actor told ComicBook he thinks the Season 5 premiere is the best since the pilot aired, and teased reporters about "one thing that happens in the first episode." New suit, perhaps?

"I've been comparing it to our pilot," Gustin said. "We've got an action sequence in it that's something straight out of the comics, that when I read in 2013 while I was shooting Arrow and dreaming of stuff we could do someday on Flash — we're doing something i never thought we'd be able to do....I don't want to speak too soon, but I think it could be our best season. It'll be what Flash should be.

"And then yeah, there's one thing that happens in the first episode as well, that will be a little teaser of the trailer today," Gustin said. "So it's something that I've been wanting, and that I know some fans have been wanting for a long time. So we're doing a couple cool things."

What do you think of the new suit's early designs? The Flash returns Tuesday, Oct. 9 at 8 p.m. EST. Read the Season 5 synopsis below.
