'The Flash' Season 5 Spoilers: Trailer Introduces Chris Klein's Big Bad, Cicada

The Flash Season 5 will feature another non-speedster Big Bad, played by Chris Klein, for Barry to fight, the cast and producers announced at the San Diego Comic-Con panel Saturday.

Klein (American Pie) is playing DC super villain Cicada, described by Warner Bros. as "a grizzled, blue-collar everyman whose family has been torn apart by metahumans." He "now seeks to exterminate the epidemic—one metahuman at a time."

"So Stoked!" Klein wrote when he shared the news on Twitter Sunday.

The CW series, which premiered in 2014, follows Barry Allen (Grant Gustin), who was struck by lightning the same night the S.T.A.R. Labs (Scientific and Technological Advanced Research Laboratories) particle accelerator exploded and released dark matter into Central City. He awoke from his coma with superhuman speed and became The Flash. He works with his friends to protect the city from others who also received powers but use them for nefarious reasons.

The CW released the Season 5 trailer Saturday, which ends with a look at Klein as Cicada. He puts a lightning-bolt-shaped dagger down on a table, charged with lightning, hinting at the character's story in the comics.

Cicada killed his wife and was struck by lightning when he tried to kill himself. He steals the life force of his victims to extend his own life.

Cicada is "a little bit different in what he can do, what he can't do and how he interacts with the team," series executive producer Todd Helbing told TVLine Saturday.

The Season 5 trailer also offered an extended look at Nora West-Allen, Barry and Iris's (Candice Patton) daughter from the future. Played by Jessica Parker Kennedy, Nora appeared throughout Season 4, though it wasn't until the finale that Barry and the team learned her identity. Like her father, she is a speedster. She gives him his Flash Ring, which contains a new suit.

Nora is stuck in the past, and Barry is worried she could erase herself from existence. "She needs to be with her parents 30 years from now, not us now," he tells Iris. But what secret is Nora keeping from everyone?

The video also shows Wally West suited up as speedster Kid Flash, but he won't be sticking around. Keiynan Lonsdale revealed he was not going to be a series regular on The Flash or Legends of Tomorrow in June.

The Flash Season 5 premieres October 9 at 8 p.m. ET on the CW.
