Florida Man Arrested for Slashing Woman With Knife Released From Prison, Goes Back to Kill Her

A Florida man arrested for slashing his girlfriend's arms with a knife allegedly went back to kill her after he was released on bail, police said.

Warren Brown, 57, has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of 43 year old Sophie Solis, the St. Petersburg Police Department said.

Brown was arrested on Saturday after concerned friends found Solis's body in the trunk of Brown's car in the driveway of their home in Organdy Drive in St. Petersburg, Florida. Police said she had been stabbed and that detectives also found photos of the couple as well as bloody clothing in the trunk.

The Tampa Bay Times reported that Brown had been arrested on November 9 after he allegedly slashed Solis' arms with a knife. Online records from the Pinellas County Sheriff's Office show he was released on bail after posting a $15,000 bond.

A court order said he was not to contact Solis or be within 500 feet of her, theTimes reported. But on November 12, Solis found Brown looking for his checkbook at their home in Organdy Drive. He left when she alerted police, the newspaper reported.

A day later, she signed an affidavit urging authorities not to prosecute Brown and claimed she wasn't afraid of being attacked by him. "I am not in fear of violence from the Defendant," Solis said in the affidavit, according to The Times.

But around a week later, police say Brown stabbed and killed Solis before placing her body in a Cadillac.

The Times reported that according to the arrest report, Brown admitted he had stabbed Solis and dumped her body in the trunk of his car after officers read him his rights.

The arrest report said friends of Solis found her home in "disarray" on Thursday and in the mess, one found the keys to the Cadillac. They also found a blood-soaked robe and a leather jacket with "blood, hair and flesh" on it.

Brown was booked into jail on Saturday on charges of second-degree murder, aggravated assault, domestic battery and violation of pre-trial release, online records show. He is being held without bail.

Brown and Soli had a history of domestic violence incidents, St. Petersburg police said. Records show Brown has been booked on charges of domestic battery numerous times, dating back to 2010.

According to the Times, Brown was arrested after allegedly punching Solis in the face in August. In June, he had filed a court action in a bid to get her to move out of his home and days later, she filed a domestic violence injunction against him.
