Florida Man Who Became 'Very Upset and Angry' After Woman He Met at Beach Refused Sex Accused of Robbing Other Women at Hotels

A man arrested by Florida police on suspicion of robbing and sexually assaulting a woman is also suspected of two other attacks.

Shane Bayne, 24, has been charged with armed robbery, false imprisonment and sexual battery with a deadly weapon following an incident at the Century Hotel on Miami Beach on July 17.

Bayne is alleged to have met his victim on the beach, where the pair exchanged numbers. They then agreed to meet at her hotel room for sex.

According to court documents, the woman changed her mind when Bayne without a condom.

"The man did not want to use a condom. The victim refused, and that's when the subject became irate," Miami Beach Police Officer Ernesto Rodriguez told WSVN. "He attacked the victim. He choked her and then proceeded to sexually batter her."

Bayne is also alleged to have pointed a gun at the woman "demanding something she didn't understand," according to an incident report seen by the Miami Herald.

After another brief physical altercation, the woman was able to escape the room and alert hotel staff. She was taken to Mount Sinai Medical Center for treatment.

Bayne was able to flee the hotel. Miami Beach Police released surveillance footage from inside the hotel showing Bayne walking past an ATM as a part of a public appeal to help capture him.

He was eventually arrested on the morning of July 20 and taken to the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center in West Miami-Dade.

Police also suspect Bayne of being responsible for two similar attacks against women in Doral and Dania Beach.

One woman said she was attacked in a hotel room in Doral by a man—matching Bayne's description—who forced her to undress at gunpoint and then stole $400 on July 15

Bayne is also suspected by the Broward Sheriff's Office of robbing another woman inside her room at the Fairfield Inn & Suites by Marriott on July 19.

"This man may be wanted in connection to armed robberies, not only by the Doral Police Department, but also by the Broward Sheriff's Office," Rodriguez added. "So, again, a very dangerous man."

According to online records, Bayne is being held in custody with no bond.

Police are asking those with any further information to call Miami-Dade County Crime Stoppers at 305-471-8477 or Broward County Crime Stoppers at 954-493-8477.
