Former Alabama State Trooper Killed After Shooting District Attorney in the Face, Police Said

An Alabama district attorney was allegedly shot on Thursday by a former Alabama state trooper, CBS42 reported.

District Attorney Greg Griggers was shot in the face on Thursday Hale County District Attorney Michael Jackson told the news station. Jackson said Griggers was in the hospital and is expected to be okay, and the former state trooper was fatally shot, according to CBS42.

Griggers was shot outside his office in Demopolis, Alabama, Demopolis Police Chief Tommie Reese told The Tuscaloosa News. The suspect was killed by police, according to the publication.

Newsweek has reached out to the Demopolis Police Department for comment on the incident but did not hear back in time for publication.
