'Fortnite' Doomsday Event Explained: What Clues Have Been Discovered
A Doomsday event is coming to Fortnite, heralding the end of Season 2 and the secret agents on the island.
Epic Games has consistently created massive map-wide events over the course of the history of the battle royale, like Star Wars Tie Fighters swinging through the air or giant monsters bashing each other all across the ground floor. Similar to other events, we don't have the full details about what is on the way, but thanks to some well-focused data miners and internet detectives, we do have some information about Doomsday that's on the way.

Fortnite Doomsday Event
At the start of Season 2 Chapter 2, five new secret agent bases were added to the island map. These groups of spies have been dueling it out for supremacy of the island, with NPC agents willing to run around to do their bidding. Data miners like FortTory have found image assets for what the files call a "Doomsday Device," which also includes a hatch and a door at the bottom of the water. The hatches can be found in the waters near the Agency that might shoot missiles, though they currently cannot be opened.
So this got added:

Construction on the device began at the start of v12.30 and leaked images of a character reveal a trailer for the Midas skin that shows the Doomsday Device chilling in the background. The golden masked villain might be planning to annihilate the competition with a well-placed explosion ruining everyone's day. This leak is still yet to be confirmed but we should know by Tuesday if this is the trailer and if Midas is actually the one looking to take everyone down.

FortTory also uncovered a countdown clock hidden in the code for Fortnite in the latest patch. "BPCountdown" appears alongside a long string of numbers and text, signaling the potential for a timer to start sometime in the near future.
So the lobby got updated, and im ''ALMOST'' sure that they added something of a countdown.

Could be wrong... lets see when the servers are back up.
With all of this theory crafting, it's clear that Fortnite is planning something big. With all of the hype around newer shooters like Valorant and Apex Legends, Fortnite players have been left out of the new content bandwagon. With this Doomsday event coming to shake things up and Chapter 3 on the horizon, players of Epic Games' battle royale should be excited for the future.
