'Fortnite' for Nintendo Switch Leaked & Rated in Korea Before E3 2018

Fortnite is coming to Nintendo Switch according to a recent rating from the Game Content Rating Classification Committee in South Korea. The filing was submitted in late May as "Fortnite Nintendo Switch" and was made public Friday morning.

Much like the ESRB ratings of North America, this one also features a brief description of the game's mechanics and any content that may not be suitable for younger players. Nintendo Switch's Fortnite translated description reads as follows:

"A third-person shooter action Nintendo Switch game that collects resources and builds defensive fortresses to stop monsters. Comic expression of a slight level of attack. (Attack expression using various weapons against human and extraterrestrial life forms)."

It's therefore deemed suitable for ages 12 and older.

This ratings leak arrives mere hours after a Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite was mentioned in a highly publicized and verified 4chan thread detailing Nintendo's plans for playable games at E3 2018. In addition to Fortnite, Mario Tennis Aces, FIFA 19 and Starlink: Battle for Atlas are also listed.

Rumors of a Nintendo Switch version of Fortnite have been percolating since Battle Royale reached peak popularity earlier this year. Back in January, Epic Games Creative Director Donald Mustard tweeted "hopefully we do that at some point" when asked about porting Fortnite to the popular hybrid console. That message gained further traction when Iron Galaxy Studios erroneously mentioned Fortnite for Switch in a job listing last month. Iron Galaxy helped Bethesda port Skyrim to Switch last year and worked alongside Epic to develop Fortnite's mobile version.

In other words, the stars seem perfectly aligned for Fortnite to release on Nintendo Switch. While nothing's been confirmed, we'd suggest watching Nintendo's E3 Direct on June 12 at 12 p.m. EDT. That's the exact same day Epic also plans to host the Fortnite Celebrity Pro-Am from the E3 showfloor.

Fortnite is in early access across PS4, Xbox One, PC and iOS.
