After some fairly uneventful updates, there's no denying that Fortnite update 14.40 sounds like it delivers on all the hype that's been generated over the past few days. With Midas positioned as Fortnite's most beloved villain, it's awesome to hear that he and his Henchmen will be making a comeback over the next few weeks. The addition of Witch Brooms, Candy and themed weapons sounds interesting too. While the free rewards for the Fortnitemares Challenges definitely look a bit weak compared to what's been offered in the past, it's a bit hard to complain about a complimentary gift. In short, there are lots of spooky surprises to uncover and plenty of fun ways to do so. With that in mind it's hard not to be excited.

Over on the Creative side, however, the situation continues to look a bit bland. While it's great that we finally get some fresh prefabs in addition to bug fixes, we personally were hoping that a little more Halloween madness might make its way into player-made maps as well. The Birthday content is certainly cool, it just doesn't fit with all the awesome stuff happening in other areas of the game right now. Fortnite update 14.40 is a patch that's heavy on content and light on fixes. That's a pretty rare occurrence this late in a season, so we'll take all the Fortnitemares we can handle.

Fortnite is available now on PS4, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Android.
