Save the World

Coming April 3-June 19 at 8P.M. EDT - Grab Your Gear, Commanders. The Scurvy Shoals Venture Season Begins

  • Super Melee Monsters - Takers and melee-based Husks move and attack faster, and their attacks slow Commanders by 30 percent for five seconds. Eliminating Super Melee Husks will stun smaller enemies in a small radius for a short amount of time. Chaining these stuns together may stun stronger Husks.
  • Super Ranged Monsters - Flingers, Pitchers, and Lobbers throw additional projectiles, while Zappers and Blasters fire twice as quickly. All their blasting efforts are causing them to have 30 percent less health.
  • Super Tough Husks - Husky Husks and Smashers have increased resistance to trap and ranged weapon damage, and deal increased damage to structures. Sure they're super, but all that smashing power causes them to move 20 percent slower.
  • Dungeons: They say there are weapons and Heroes to recruit along the way. Magical Keys, a deep and dark labyrinth, golden coins... sounds like it's time to do some exploring. Complete Dungeons to unlock Heroes, a Loading Screen, and more.

Judging by the sheer girth of these patch notes, it goes without saying that Fortnite update 16.10 is an absolutely massive one for all modes of the game. Starting with Battle Royale, there's been lots of discussion about tameable Raptors over the past few weeks, and now it looks like they're finally ready to make their debut. Thankfully, because meat and bones can now appear as floor loot, taming one should be easier than ever as well. And, while it may be a bit of a bummer that the higher-tier Primal Shotgun is a bit weaker than it used to be, at least that adjustment has been balanced out by making the widely available Makeshift variation a little more potent. Given that Season 6 just began a few weeks ago, there are more than enough changes here to keep Battle Royale fans engaged.

When it comes to Creative and Save the World, it's the latter that has clearly received more love this time around. The new health manipulation item in Creative is definitely nice and could be used in a variety of interesting ways by creators, but it pales in comparison to the upcoming debut of a new season with a variety of characters to unlock. It doesn't all start today, but the new Dungeon mechanic it features certainly sounds fun. Best of all it's an exciting way to add Heroes to your roster without having to buy them in the Item Shop. There's no denying Fortnite's PvP doesn't have the fanbase of Battle Royale, but at least Epic is still making the right moves to help it grow.

Fortnite is available now on PS5, PS4, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox One, Switch, PC and Android.
