'Game of Thrones' Arya Reacts: Twitter Brings Up Michael Jordan's Famous Hand Switch, A Lot

Arya Stark was the Most Valuable Player in Sunday night's episode of Game of Thrones, and her skillful move has Twitter users comparing her to a basketball legend. Michael Jordan's name has popped up all over the social media platform in reference to the young Stark, as she used a similar tactic to the famous athlete when killing the Night King to end the Battle of Winterfell.

The Night King was interacting with Bran Stark, who was alone, when Arya Stark snuck up on him. She lunged at his back and tried to stab him, but was quickly grabbed by the neck by the powerful villain. Arya, though, switched her dragonglass blade from one hand to the other, stabbed the ice leader in the stomach, and ended the war by killing the Night King, and in turn, the entire army of the dead.

Arya switching her blade from one hand to the next has drawn hundreds of comparisons to Jordan's famous hand switch, which he used throughout his career to stump opposing players and make baskets with an unassuming arm. From mentions to memes, the two were paired vigorously after the Game of Thrones episode aired on Sunday.

Soccer player Brian White shared his take on Twitter post-show. "Who did the mid air switch of hands better Arya Stark or Michael Jordan? My votes Arya."

Sports editor Dave Zirin agreed on his own account. "Arya Stark > Michael Jordan > Lebron > Kareem....I mean...holy s***."

Some Twitter users compared Arya to a list of basketball legends along with Jordan, including Lebron James, and even other types of athletes, like Michael Phelps and Usain Bolt. Many said among all athletes, Arya comes out on top, her skills are hard to beat.

The way Arya jumped onto the Night King before she killed him also drew comparisons to Jordan and his legendary dunks. Videos of Jordan in his Chicago Bulls heydey spread across the social media site, along with the #GameofThrones hashtag.

Some Twitter users joked about Arya's past when she served as a faceless man. Many compared her athleticism to taking on the face and lifestyle of an athlete, like Jordan. "Arya just got a game seven buzzer beater. A girl is Michael Jordan," wrote Twitter user @209_stayflexin.

Maisie Williams, who plays Arya Stark, did not comment on Arya's MVP moment, or the Twitter reactions at the time of the show's original airing on HBO.
