In Game of Thrones Season 8, Episode 4, we learn the recently knighted Brienne of Tarth (Gwendoline Christie) is a virgin, but it's not true for very long. She's not the only survivor of the massive battle against the Night King who hooks up at Winterfell after the battle.
While the episode opens on a funeral, it soon segues into a drunken celebration, as the survivors of "The Long Night" celebrate their victory, their lives and the lives of those they've lost. During the celebration, Tyrion Lannister (Peter Dinklage) concocts a drinking game similar to "Never Have I Ever," with Brienne, Jaime Lannister (Nikolaj Coster-Waldau) and Podrick Payne (Daniel Portman) guessing details from each other's lives. Most of the questions are innocent—we learn, for example, that Tyrion prefers wine to ale—but then Tyrion busts out a biggie.
"You're a virgin," Tyrion guesses (Podrick, uncomfortable, gulps his wine). "At no point in the past, up until this very moment, have you slept with a man, or a woman."
"I have to piss," Brienne replies, excusing herself from the party and leaving behind a devastated and drunken Tormund Giantsbane (Kristofer Hivju).
But while Brienne wants to hide her embarrassment, Jaime has other ideas. He visits Brienne in her chambers and uses the roaring fire as an excuse to start taking off his clothes. His intent is clear. "How about Tormund Giantsbne, has he grown on you? He was very sad when you left," Jaime asks Brienne.
"You sound quite jealous," she replies.
Then Jaime moves on to her tunic, disrobing Brienne. "I've never slept with a knight before," he says.
"I've never slept with anyone before," Brienne replies.
Even before Brienne and Jaime have sex, Tormund can see the writing on the wall. "After all that, this fucker comes north and takes her from me, just takes her, like that," he complains to Sandor Clegane (Rory McCann). "Clegane, my heart is broken." Luckily for Tormund, there are many other women at Winterfell interested in the bearded redhead.
"I'm not afraid of wildlings," a young woman named Willa says to Tormund. They leave together.
While there have been a handful of characters named Willa on Game of Thrones, it seems Tormund's sex partner isn't someone we've previously met on the show. There's a young girl named Willa who Jon Snow (Kit Harington) rescues from Hardhome. There's also Wylla: a likely fictional woman Ned Stark claims as his mistress in a cover story he tells Robert Baratheon to obscure Jon Snow's Targaryen parentage. But this isn't either of those Willas. This Willa is a new character played by Alice Nokes.
Unlike many of the sex scenes on Game of Thrones, the hookups in Season 8, Episode 4 are relatively chaste. It's only Tyrion who keeps a resolutely dirty outlook on the sex going on all around him, particularly Jaime sleeping with Brienne. "I'm happy you finally have to climb for it," he tells his brother.
