Manchester United great Gary Neville has warned Jose Mourinho he needs a further overhaul of the club's squad, as certain players "do not fit the profile of the club."

Neville, the former United defender, said he had been impressed by Mourinho's summer signings, but urged a renewed effort at a clear-out of a squad largely assembled under David Moyes and Louis Van Gaal.

"He's [Mourinho] unravelling what's gone on here in the last three years with what I think has been bad spending by the club, simple as that. Now he is trying to correct it," Neville said.

"I do like two or three players that he has signed this time. I like Pogba, he will come good, I like the fact Zlatan's got a big character, I like Bailly.

" I think there are players there that have got the profile that fit the Manchester United stature but there are still some here that haven't got the profile."

Mourinho arrived at United at the end of May, replacing Van Gaal who had become unpopular with the club's supporters following a season in which United lost out to rivals Manchester City for UEFA Champions League football.

He began the season with three straight victories in the English Premier League, but followed that with three defeats in a row in the Premier League and UEFA Europa League.

United got back on track on Saturday with a 4-1 victory over Leicester City in which world record signing Pogba was dominant. The club faces Zorya Luhansk of Ukraine in the Europa League at Old Trafford on Thursday.
