George the Monkey's Cutest Moments as TikTok's Famous Capuchin Dies at Vet

TikTok's George the Monkey, who gained more than 17 million followers in just under two years with his human-like behavior opening packages and examining their contents, unexpectedly died this week during a routine trip to the vet.

In a video shared yesterday, George's owners confirmed his passing, writing: "We have devastating news. George went to the vet for a regular check up on his teeth. During, there were complications with the anesthesia, starting a long fight for his life. Through the fight, George was sent thousands of thoughts and prayers with the hope that he would make it. On June 7th at 4pm Central, Georgie Boy passed away."

"George was a light when things seemed dark and he was a reminder of the love that exists in all of us," they continued. "Though the fun-loving life of George has left, his spirit of hope and love lives on."

TikTok users followed George's life as his owners documented his entertaining skills at opening packages, often sent by fans who watched as he attempted to figure out what was inside. Just like any other social media influencer, George even had his own Cameo account, where fans bought personalized videos and discount codes for online sites.

Although it's difficult to whittle them down, here are some of George's cutest moments on the app.

George received his own car

In a video shared in 2020, George received a baby car, and even read the manual beforehand and worked out where to put the key in.

George lived up to the classic children's song in this video from February, when he received his own bed. After his owners set it up, he enjoyed popcorn after laying back onto the bed smiling.

"Not to be dramatic, but I would die for George," one viewer wrote.

His attempt at ASMR

With over 61 million views, George tried his hand at ASMR in this video, after receiving Turkish figs and popcorn in the mail. With the sound of him squeaking however, this ASMR won't exactly send you to sleep.

Mesmerized by a light-up globe

Recently, George received a light-up globe and after working out how to plug it in, he was mesmerized by it.

"That monkey is smarter than half the people I know," commented one TikTok user.

George's ball pit experience

In April, George clearly quite literally had a ball, as he was captured endlessly throwing himself into his new ball pit.

NFL try-outs and try-ons

George's NFL helmet try-on experience gained over 2 million views on TikTok, as he adorably smiled while wearing it. The miniature football helmet perfectly fit George's head, before he moved onto more important matters at hand—food.

Darting from his sensory toy

Most of the time, George seemed captivated by the gifts he had been sent by fans, but seemingly not this time. After opening a package of sensory toys, George hilariously darted out of the shot.
