Georgia Man Allegedly Drove Car Into Bar, Fired Gun at Patrons After Being Asked to Leave

A Georgia man was recently arrested and charged with driving his pickup into a bar and opening fire after he was asked to leave.

According to the Hiram Police Department, the incident occurred at around 11:30 p.m. local time on July 10 near 278 South, 3716 Atlanta Hwy.

The man was identified by police as 34-year-old Eduardo Morales.

Morales had a Woodstock, Georgia, address on his Mexican Consular card, according to police.

According to the Hiram Police Department, Morales was asked to leave the bar because he was intoxicated, but he returned shortly after and pulled a Black Dodge Ram 2500 toward the front of the bar.

"Morales then began firing a weapon into the club through the window of his truck," the Hiram Police Department said in a press release.

While speaking with WSB-TV 2 in Atlanta, Ydon Gerneus said that approximately 20 minutes after Morales was asked to leave the club, patrons "heard two gunshots."

"Me and my partner fell to the floor. All you hear is glass breaking and people screaming and the car comes in through the front door," Gerneus told WSB-TV 2.

A police news release stated that after Morales' weapon became empty, he proceeded to drive his truck into the bar "through the front doors striking numerous patrons."

According to police, Morales' truck was stopped by the club's bar, and as he attempted to reverse out of the club, his truck became stuck.

"While the vehicle was stuck, Morales attempted to reload his weapon, but was pulled from the vehicle and detained by patrons of the bar until the arrival of law enforcement," the Hiram Police Department said.

According to WSB-TV 2, Mauricio "Moe" Puerto was one of the patrons that pulled Morales from his vehicle.

"I dove in through the driver's side window, and when I reached in there, I noticed that he had a pistol and he was reloading and putting another magazine in and I grabbed the wrist where he had the pistol. He was putting up a fight and he wouldn't let it go. I kept elbowing him with my right arm," Puerto told the local TV station.

The Hiram Police Department said that Morales suffered minor injuries while being detained by the club's patrons and was transported to Wellstar Paulding Hospital prior to his arrest.

"One person inside the bar was grazed by a bullet and another patron, hit twice by the vehicle, was treated and released," police said in the release.

Morales has been charged with two counts of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon for driving his car into the club and firing a handgun. He was also charged with two counts of aggravated battery, according to police.

The Hiram Police Department directed Newsweek to its press release in response to request for further comment.
