Georgia's Primary Election: What time do polls open and close?

The Georgia primary elections are officially here, and if you're a registered voter in Georgia you can cast your ballot in person in a polling location on Election Day which is Tuesday, May 24th 2022.

There has already been a significant turn out of voters, and numbers are expected to continue to rise throughout the day.

You can find in this article the times that the polling stations will be open, as well as other ways that you can vote.

The winners of the Georgia primary election will be nominees for their political party on the General Election in November. The Georgia runoff election will occur on Tuesday, June 21st of 2022.

What time do polls open and close?

Polling places will be open from 7am ET and will close at 7pm ET. You can vote any time between then. As long as you are in line by 7pm ET you will be allowed to vote and cast your ballot.

How do I vote in person?

As a registered voter you can vote in person, all you have to do is register to vote through the secretary of state's office. You must submit this before the deadline.

You will also have to bring with you valid proof of identification, this can be a driver's license or a U.S passport. You can also use a free voter ID card which is issued by the state of Georgia.

Where do I vote in person?

On Election Day (May 24th) you can only vote in person in your assigned polling place. The location can be found on your voter registration card or by logging into the My Voter Page, or by directly contacting your County Board of Registrar's Office.

When you arrive at your polling place, you will need to show your valid proof of ID to the poll worker, they will check your ID and your details to ensure you are a registered voter and that you are voting at your assigned polling location.

How else can I vote?

You can choose to vote by absentee ballot, all absentee ballots must be returned by your county registrar's office by 7pm of the Election Day. However, if you arrive at your polling place but do not meet all the requirements needed you can ask for a provisional ballot. Your vote will be counted as long as you fix all of your eligibility and requirement issues within three days after the Election Day (Tuesday, May 24th).
