On Monday, Victoria’s Secret model Gigi Hadid slammed the media. On Sunday, rumors swirled that she that sent “flirty text” messages to model Lewis Hamilton after her breakup with singer Zayn Malik last week. Though her message didn’t directly address those accusations, she seemingly shot them down with her tweet.

“Can’t believe that in 2018 the press can still make up & print false stories…but more sad that people still continue to believe that trash,” she tweeted to her 8.77 million followers. “Click-bait & headlines are made to create drama where there is none when outlets have nothing else to write about…that’s not journalism.”

The rumor about Hadid exchanging messages with Lewis was peddled by The Mirror, who noted the models worked together on an advertisement for Tommy Hilfiger earlier this month. “They have a big connection,” an anonymous insider supposedly told the newspaper.

Malik did not immediately issue a statement about the rumor, though he got two tattoos in the wake of his breakup. The first was a black rose on the back of his head, and the other was on his neck.

The former One Direction member took to social media on Tuesday to write about his split. “Gigi and I had an incredibly meaningful, loving and fun relationship and I have a huge amount of respect and adoration for Gigi as a woman and friend,” Malik the "Pillowtalk" singer wrote. “She has such an incredible soul. I’m grateful to all of our fans for respecting this difficult decision and our privacy at this time; we wish this news could have come from us first. We love you all. xZ”

Hadid added, “Breakup statements often seem impersonal because there is really no way to put into words what two people experience over a few years…not only in the relationship, but in life in general. I’m forever grateful for the love, time, and life lessons that Z and I shared. I want nothing but the best for him and will continue to support him as a friend that I have immense respect and love for. As for the future, whatever’s meant to be will be. xG”
