Golden Retriever Bites Woman's Drink Out of Her Mouth in Hilarious Viral Video

A dog is a man's best friend, which is all well and good, but once you own one you'll rarely get a moment alone.

This fact is clearly illustrated in a viral TikTok video that shows a golden retriever hilariously encroaching on his owner while she tries to drink from a water bottle. The clip has attracted more than 14.5 million views.

The footage was shared to the app by a woman named Annie, known on the app as Theblondeanglophile, and begins with her taking a sip from a large bottle of still water while sat on a leather sofa.

From her left-hand side her dog then leans in and grabs the bottle between his jaw and pulls it out of his owner's mouth.

She then turns to the animal, clearly perplexed, as he jumps down off the sofa to walk away.

Text overlaying the funny clip reads: "Life with a golden..."

Annie has also captioned the video, explaining that it had previously been removed: "Since TikTok took it down at 20k :( #fyp #foryou #goldenretrieverlife #golden."

Since the footage was posted on May 19 it has gained lots of traction online, having surpassed a whopping 3.1 million views and 240,100 shares.

The clip, which can be watched here, has also attracted more than 19,500 comments, with many finding the incident hilarious.

One TikTok user, Oneiric Rotaerc, wrote: "Excuse me, those are bad for the environment, you don't need this."

Another person, Charlie, added: "Hey... You done... Cuz I kinda need that... Um... Imma just go with this... bye."

Courtney joked about the pet being annoying, writing: "We've been trying to contact you about your car's extended warranty."

Heather Queen of Snark stated that this type of behavior was typical of "all retrievers" and admitted "my black lab goes nuts for all bottles."

Jacob Zimmerman theorized: "I think dogs have realized that we like more when they're goofy so now they have started acting way more goody."

Datdudebp21 revealed: "Mine does this too, he goes outside and brings in his food bowl everyday when it gets to dinner time. Gets me every times."

MikeSiegrist82 commented: "He's like ok mommy that's enough. PLAY TIME."

Julia Tusa explained: "Our mutt used to do this, he died of cancer. Makes me cry and laugh to watch this. Miss him."

This playful behavior is not uncommon for golden retrievers, who are one of America's favorite dog breeds according to the American Kennel Club.

The website explains that these dogs "take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood.

"These energetic, powerful gundogs enjoy outdoor play. For a breed built to retrieve waterfowl for hours on end, swimming and fetching are natural pastimes."

Newsweek has contacted Annie for comment.
