'Golden Retriever Experience' Allows You to Play With Pack of Adorable Dogs
Dog lovers can pay to indulge in an outdoor playtime session with a pack of dogs as part of "The Golden Retriever Experience" in the U.K.
The GRE offers dog enthusiasts the chance to cuddle, play fetch and roll around with a group of adorable golden retrievers in the peaceful countryside of Exmoor National Park in Somerset of South West England.
The GRE website says: "You can have as many or as few dogs in your session as you would like. For those with a fear of dogs, we will only introduce you to one or two senior dogs until you feel comfortable with more.
"For those who want an extreme experience, we can slowly introduce you to the whole pack which is an incredible sensation," the website adds.
According to a video at the website offering a "glimpse of your experience," guests can just lay on the grass and cuddle the dogs, splash around with them in water, give them a ride on a small wagon cart across the field and feed them.
Who should book a session?
The experience is aimed at those coping with different circumstances. They can include anyone from dog lovers who are unable to own a dog at this time and those considering getting one to those going through pet bereavement. Others may be looking to overcome a fear of dogs.
The program also aims to be a therapeutic session for those combating stress or dealing with post traumatic stress disorder or an acquired brain injury.
"We specialise in the therapeutic needs of children and adults with all forms of learning/social/behavioural difficulties including Autism, Asperger's and other associated conditions," the company says.
Why golden retrievers?
The company explains that golden retrievers are "famous for being one of the most gentle and intelligent breeds," which make them ideal especially for those with a fear of dogs or those coping with certain health conditions.
Golden retrievers are among America's most popular dog breeds, according to the American Kennel Club. The Scottish gundogs "take a joyous and playful approach to life and maintain this puppyish behavior into adulthood," the AKC describes.
The GRE website says: "Our dogs are impeccably trained and endlessly affectionate, and we are positive that you will walk away having had one of the best experiences of your life.
"We have expertly trained our dogs to be respectful and obedient, and not once have they been aggressive towards humans. You're more likely to be licked to death than bitten," the website adds.
How much does it cost?
The website advises: "A minimum booking of two adults for 2 hours, or equivalent, is required and you may book a maximum of 12 hours on any given day."
The price for a 2-hour minimum session for adults cost around $84 (£60) for those 18 years and older. Students and seniors (those aged 66 and older) pay around $71 (£50), while children aged two to 12 years old are charged around $42 (£30) for a 2-hour session. Children under two years old are able to enjoy the experience for free.
Amid the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, the company says: "We now provide hand sanitiser, wet wipes and latex gloves (not required to be worn with the dogs) to ensure good hygiene in our sessions," while social distancing rules are also in place. Guests are advised to bring their own face coverings if desired.

How did The Golden Retriever Experience begin?
The GRE is owned by Nicolas Grant-St James and his daughter Lauren, who bought their first golden retriever back in 2006. They were accredited breeders of golden retrievers from 2008 to 2016 before the launch of The GRE in 2017.
The website explains: "As their lives became more and more dog-related, their pack grew with them and they ended up with a Golden Retriever's paradise in Exmoor National Park.
"Following countless suggestions that they should open their 'Disneyland for Dogs' to others, The GRE was finally formed in 2017, enabling dog-lovers to share in their 'puppy love'," according to the website.
