Gone Girl Actress Lisa Banes's Wife Kathryn Kranhold's Plea to Catch Hit-and-Run Driver
Gone Girl actress Lisa Banes's wife has issued a plea for help tracking down the driver of a motorized scooter that struck her spouse as she crossed a street near Lincoln Center in New York City on Friday.
Banes, 65, remained hospitalized in critical condition on Saturday night after being injured in the hit-and-run accident, her manager David Williams told The Associated Press.
Banes was struck as she was crossing Amsterdam Avenue on Manhattan's Upper West Side on her way to visit her alma mater, the Julliard School, according to Williams. Williams said Banes was being treated for "substantial injuries" at Mount Sinai Morningside hospital.

"We have several days ahead of us to pray for Lisa," Banes's wife, Kathryn Kranhold, said in a statement to the New York Daily News. "If anyone has any information about the scooter driver, we ask them to please call police."
A witness told the newspaper that the force of the collision sent Banes flying out of the crosswalk. "He just wiped her out," a man who witnessed the crash said.
Police responded to a 911 call reporting a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian that was struck at around 6.30 p.m. on Friday, a spokeswoman for the New York Police Department told Newsweek.
"When officers arrived, they observed a 65-year-old female lying on the roadway with severe head trauma," she said. "EMS responded to the location and transported the female to Mount Sinai Saint Luke's Hospital, where she is in critical condition."
The spokeswoman added that further investigation by the NYPD Highway District's Collision Investigation Squad determined that Banes was attempting to cross Amsterdam Avenue when a scooter struck her and then fled the location.
The NYPD spokeswoman said the investigation is ongoing and no arrests had been made as of early Sunday morning.
Banes's decades-long career has featured roles in movies and television, and award-winning work in theater.
She is known for playing the mother of Rosamund Pike's character in 2014's Gone Girl and her role in Cocktail alongside Tom Cruise in 1988.
Banes has also appeared on shows including Nashville, Madam Secretary, Masters of Sex, Royal Pains, The Good Wife, and Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
She was in New York City to perform in "The Niceties," a two-woman show being streamed by the Manhattan Theater Club until June 13. The company has been contacted for comment.
