'Gossip Girl' Season 2 Release Date, Cast, Trailer, Plot — Everything We Know So Far

The Gossip Girl reboot is enjoying a midseason break and is set to return with the remaining 6 episodes in November. In the meantime, there has been some exciting news for loyal followers of the series—Gossip Girl will return for a second season in 2022.

Newsweek has everything you need to know about the Gossip Girl reboot.

When Is 'Gossip Girl' Season 2 out?

At the moment, Gossip Girl season 2 doesn't yet have a release date. However, if the release pattern of the first season is anything to go by, fans can expect the series to land in July 2022.

Gossip Girl fans in the U.S. will be treated to the series a little earlier than those in the U.K., who will have to wait a little longer until the series drops on the BBC iPlayer.
The renewal comes as no surprise, considering the series was the most-watched original series on HBO Max during its premiere weekend, according to Deadline.

In the meantime, Gossip Girl season one, part one is available to stream via HBO Max and the BBC iPlayer now.

Who Will Star in 'Gossip Girl' Season 2?

The entire main cast is set to return for Gossip Girl season 2.

Jordan Alexander is back as Queen Bee Julien Calloway, alongside Whitney Peak as her complicated younger half-sister Zoya Lott.

Eli Brown will return as the richest kid in New York City, Otto 'Obie' Bergmann IV, alongside the outrageously flirtatious Max Wolfe.

Also returning are Emily Alyn Lind as Blair Waldorf 2.0, Audrey Hope and Evan Mock as her bisexual boyfriend, Aki.

Zión Moreno returns as Julien's sidekick, Luna La, alongside Savannah Lee Smith as Monet De Haan, Julien's former social media manager.

Fans can also expect to see Tavi Gevinson as Kate Keller/Gossip Girl, Adam Chanler-Berat as Jordan Glassberg, Luke Kirby as Davis Calloway, Laura Benati as Kiki Hope and Elizabeth Lail as Lola Morgan.

Some of the show's cast have taken to Instagram to share their excitement about the renewal.

Alexander re-shared the trailer on her Instagram Stories with the caption: "well well well... I guess you really did love her xoxo Gossip Girl season 2."

Peak also re-shared the post on her stories with the caption: "woweee good morning," and Luna La star Moreno posted on her story: "Season 1b coming to you in Novemebr'21... Then Gossip Girl Season 2!!!"

What Will Happen in 'Gossip Girl' Season 2?

At the moment it's hard to predict what will happen in Gossip Girl season 2, as the first season hasn't yet wrapped up.

The end of part one saw Obie and Julien share a passionate kiss, behind Zoya's back, and Audrey, Max and Aki explore their complicated love triangle.

While Aki is busy experimenting in the bedroom, he receives a voicemail from his father who unexpectedly warns him to "stay away from Julien," but in the midseason finale episode, Rodger and Julien didn't even cross paths, so his warning seems pretty unwarranted — for now.

Season 2 will undoubtedly pick up from the chaotic events of Gossip Girl season one, part two but what that mess will be is unknown for now.

Is There a Trailer for 'Gossip Girl' Season 2?

No, there is no official trailer yet for Gossip Girl Season 2. It's still early days, there isn't even a trailer for season one, part two yet.

However, the Gossip Girl official Instagram account released a short teaser of what to expect in future episodes of Gossip Girl.

The video was captioned: "You'll want to keep your phone close, I won't be gone for long. S1 continues this fall, with S2 to follow."

In the clip, Obie can be seen showing the Gossip Girl gang a photo on his phone. The clip then flashes through everybody looking at their phones with shocked expressions, but it isn't quite clear what the image is.

The log-in screen of Gossip Girl's Instagram account also appears in the clip, with somebody (presumably Gossip Girl herself Kate Keller) trying to log in. However, every time she enters her details, she is rejected.

The short clip ends with the words: "You never know whose hands I'll fall into. Gossip Girl Season 2 is coming XOXO" appearing on the screen.

Will Kate (Tavi Gevinson) be ousted from her Gossip Girl throne? Fans will just have to wait and find out.

Gossip Girl is streaming on HBO Max and the BBC iPlayer now.
