'Grey's Anatomy' Season 15 Spoilers: Meredith and DeLuca Finally Make Date Plans

Dr. Meredith Grey is finally giving Dr. Andrew DeLuca a chance. On the upcoming episode of the hit ABC series Grey's Anatomy, the doctors will finally make plans to go on a date.

It's a moment Grey's fans have been waiting for ever since the colleagues nearly kissed in an elevator scene during the winter season finale. On Thursday night's episode, Meredith (Ellen Pompeo) will finally agree to go out with the handsome Italian doctor, played by Giacomo Gianniotti.

A sneak peek of the episode, titled, "Girlfriend in a Coma," saw DeLuca jealously watching the surgeon flirt with Link (Chris Carmack) and finally making his move. "When are you gonna stop stringing him along, huh?" DeLuca asks in the clip, shared by E! News on Wednesday.

When Meredith plays coy, DeLuca outs the obvious fondness Link has for her. "You heard me, Link. He likes you and you keep giving him false hope," he says.

"Who says it's false?" Meredith replied.

Speaking in Italian, DeLuca lays it on Meredith pretty thick, confessing he's tired of the games she continues to play when it's so clear they have a connection. He insists that she clarify whether her previous New Year's Eve party invite is a date, or if his requested appearance is strictly on the basis of friendship. While it takes a moment for Meredith to let her guard down, she eventually admits, "It's a date."

Their New Year's Eve date is just the beginning for MerLuca, as fans have affectionately dubbed the characters. Speaking with TV Guide, Gianniotti revealed "things are definitely going to heat up" between the doctors as the season progresses, and he noted DeLuca's confidence will likely be the key to winning over Meredith for good.

"I think DeLuca likes to think he has it in the bag already and I'll just stick with that answer... He's Italian and he's romantic. Who doesn't love a romantic man?" Gianniotti told TV Guide in an interview published Wednesday. "[DeLuca] is just trying to focus on his path. If someone gets in his way, I'm sure [DeLuca] will find a way to out maneuver him. That [scene] was some really good time to spend and I think he made a great stride ahead of Link in that elevator. He was vulnerable and able to open up about his childhood, the mental illness of his father. I think whether you're a man or a woman or anywhere in between, to be with someone who is okay being vulnerable and talks about their emotions is attractive. I hope that she saw that as well."

While love may be on the horizon for MerLuca, the episode synopsis teased trouble in paradise for Bailey (Chandra Willson) and Ben's (Jason Winston George) marriage.

Don't miss the upcoming episode of Grey's Anatomy on ABC on Thursday at 8 p.m. EST.
