As if Bryant Gumbel can afford to lose any more fans, now even his wife is finally tuning him out. June Gumbel, 51, is suing "The Early Show" host for a "permanent separation." The two have been estranged for years and the CBS star, 51, has been publicly cohabiting with Hilary Quinlan, 39. Still, the devoutly Roman Catholic Mrs. Gumbel has refused to divorce him; she even pursued an annulment after 26 years and two kids. But now that Bryant has tightened her purse strings, she seems to have shed some of her Christian charity, and is seeking emergency financial relief from him because she alleges the 5 million-a-year man pays her a meager 250 a month in support. "He shouldn't be as low as his ratings," sniped her attorney Barry Slotnick. Bryant's camp counters that she has been treated "sumptuously." "June has cars, trainers, hairdressers, vacations," says his lawyer Stanley Arkin. Shock jock Don Imus isn't buying that line. Last week he launched "Gumbel Aid" on her behalf, and even staged a "demonstration" outside the set of "The Early Show." Maybe that giant window wasn't such a good idea after all.
