Happy National Pet Day! Mark Ruffalo and More Share Their Adorable Pals

Monday, April 11 is National Pet Day, and in celebration, social media is covered in adorable pictures of furry friends—including those who happen to have celebrities as their best friends.

In 2020, 70 percent of American families owned at least one pet, according to Statista. Approximately 63 million Americans had a dog living in their home. Cats and fish are also a popular pets—and though horses are the least popular pets, at least 1.6 million people own them.

Here are some celebrities who have shared pictures with their furry friends.

Mark Ruffalo

The Marvel actor shared a few photos of his furry friends. In the past, Ruffalo has shared photos and videos of his cats: Inky, Biscotti, Felix, Magnus and Hansel.

"Cats are like those animals you can never get sick of," Ruffalo's daughter, Odette, said via a Instagram caption to celebrate International Cat Day.

Ellen Pompeo

The Grey's Anatomy star shared a heartfelt National Pet Day to her late dog, Gigi. She also spoke about her other late dog, Valentino.

"We lost our queen Gigi this year on February 4th... exactly a year to the day that we lost her brother Valentino," she wrote.

"I tell this story not to be sad but to celebrate the mythical magical creatures that we are blessed with in this life. I highly recommend everyone to take this bad bitch energy Gigi has in this music video and crush Monday," she continued.

Jimmy Fallon

Jimmy Fallon has shared a picture of himself cuddling with his pup, Gary.

The late night host told People in 2017 about his relationship with his dog, saying, "It's companionship. It's so much love. It's unconditional love. I try to do everything with my dog."

President Joe Biden

President Joe Biden has shared photos of his 10-month-old German Shepherd, Commander. In January, the President has also introduced the world to another White House pet, Willow the cat.

"Commander settled right in at the White House. It helps that he thinks he runs the place," read the caption.

Alexandra Daddario

Alexandra Daddario posted a picture of her dog, Eunice getting some sun. In the many photos posted to social media, she's let her other two dogs—Gerry and Levon—bask in the limelight as well.

Devon Carlson

Co-founder of Wildflower Cases, Devon Carlson shared an adorable pic of her dog, Martin.

In a birthday post dedicated to the pup, Carlson wrote, "you are the greatest thing that's ever happened to my life. thank you for being my inspiration, muse, & shining star. you make your father and i so proud everyday. love you meetchers, you're the ultimate good boy."
